Macross Delta is to receive a theatrical anime adaptation as part of the franchise’s 35th anniversary celebrations.
The announcement was made at Rock in Japan Festival 2017, which also boasted an appearance from the Macross Delta idol group Walküre. The group is composed of five actresses from the anime: Suzuki Minori (Freyja Wion), JUNNA (Mikumo Guynemer), Yasuno Kiyono (Kaname Buccaneer), Toyama Nao (Reina Prowler), and Nishida Nozomi (Makina Nakajima).
The title and release date have not yet been revealed but the movie will feature new songs from the band.
Macross Delta is the fourth anime series from the world of Macross, and aired from from Apr. 2016 to Sept. 2016. 8 years following the events of Macross Frontier, idol group Walküre work to soothe the effects of the Var Syndrome, which causes the afflicted to go berserk.
